Quality-Environmental, Health & Safety Specialist (Senior)

Summary/Overview of this role:
We are looking for this resource with general experience in the areas of EHS, which are Safety and Environmental.

Education Required:
• Bachelor's degree in science (Engineering or related EH&S field)

Experience Required:
• Three (3) years of experience leading various EHS areas such as Environmental, Health and Safety in the Pharmaceutical industry (negotiable)
• Fully cognizant of applicable Federal and Commonwealth rules and regulations
• Demonstrated leadership skills
• Strong negotiation and influencing skills
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, ability to work under pressure of time, and capable of working with minimal direct supervision.
• Good interpersonal skills
• Computer knowledge
• Completely bilingual (Spanish and English).

Responsibilities:

1. Provides technical and regulatory guidance on environmental and safety issues, focusing on the recognition, evaluation, and control of physical, chemical, and environmental hazards.
2. Advise management on the proper procedures, work practices, and equipment to use to ensure compliance with all legal requirements and regulations in these fields.
3. Implements EHS self-assessment programs, policies, and procedures to ensure compliance with applicable local, federal, and company regulations and directives.
4. Review capital renovations and new construction projects to ensure environmental and Safety issues are addressed.
5. Conduct EHS training and orientation for project personnel and contractors.
6. Review project proposals, designs, and specifications to identify potential EHS risks and provide recommendations for mitigation.
7. Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and contractors to ensure EHS requirements are met throughout the project lifecycle.
8. Participate in the planning, designing, and executing of capital projects to ensure EHS considerations are integrated into project plans.
9. Participate in process hazard reviews of new and existing equipment to address environmental, industrial hygiene, and safety issues.
10. Support the departmental safety self-inspections program.
11. Support safety and environmental programs as required.
12. Lead and facilitate the MOC process to ensure that all changes to processes, equipment, and operations are evaluated for EHS impacts.
13. Review and approve MOC requests, ensuring that appropriate risk assessments and controls are in place.
14. Coordinate with cross-functional teams to implement changes safely and effectively.
15. Maintain accurate documentation of the MOC process and ensure timely communication of changes to relevant stakeholders.
16. Support the incident investigations program to determine the root cause, develop an action plan to avoid recurrence, and follow up to ensure improvements.
17. Keeps abreast of current technologies and regulatory trends.
18. Performs other related duties, as required.
