Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) Management System Engineer

Position Summary

We are seeking for an EHS Management System Engineer to develop and implement a comprehensive Safety and Environmental Management System for a new Greenfield construction project. The selected candidate will create procedures, forms, and documentation to ensure compliance with local environmental and safety regulations, integrating construction safety practices and environmental stewardship into all project stages.


Key Responsibilities

  • Develop a complete EHS management framework for a Greenfield construction project.
  • Draft policies, plans, procedures, and forms to manage occupational safety and environmental compliance.
  • Coordinate with internal environmental and quality systems to align site-level EHS procedures.
  • Define permitting requirements and ensure regulatory compliance for construction activities.
  • Identify potential hazards and establish mitigation controls for field operations (e.g., work-at-heights, confined spaces, equipment operation).
  • Provide training and awareness on new EHS procedures to project stakeholders.
  • Ensure documentation aligns with Client corporate standards and local regulations.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental, Chemical, Industrial, or Safety Engineering (or related discipline).
  • 5+ years of experience in Environmental, Health & Safety roles, preferably in industrial or construction settings.
  • Proven experience developing or implementing EHS management systems (ISO 14001, ISO 45001 preferred).
  • Knowledge of Puerto Rico and federal OSHA standards, permits, and environmental regulations.
  • Strong technical writing and documentation skills.
  • Ability to work independently to design procedures and forms from scratch.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
