Position Overview
Puma Energy is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Project Scheduler – Maintenance to support planning and scheduling efforts across maintenance projects and operational activities at our San Juan terminal. This position plays a vital role in ensuring maintenance tasks are properly scheduled, resourced, and executed to maximize operational uptime, minimize disruptions, and support compliance with industry safety and reliability standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain detailed project schedules for ongoing and planned maintenance activities, including preventive, corrective, and shutdown work.
- Collaborate with maintenance, operations, engineering, and procurement teams to gather inputs and define activity durations, dependencies, and resource allocations.
- Create and update Gantt charts, critical path schedules, and look-ahead plans using project scheduling software (e.g., Primavera P6, MS Project, or equivalent).
- Track and monitor progress against schedule baselines and provide regular status updates to stakeholders.
- Analyze schedule variances, delays, and resource bottlenecks; propose mitigation strategies to keep maintenance projects on track.
- Coordinate with contractors, technicians, and third-party service providers to ensure alignment with planned schedules.
- Integrate maintenance schedules with permit-to-work systems and ensure compliance with safety and operational policies.
- Support the planning of annual maintenance campaigns, major shutdowns, and capital improvement projects.
- Maintain detailed documentation and logs of schedule changes, approvals, and justifications.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Project Management, Maintenance Management, or a related field preferred.
- Minimum 3–5 years of experience in project scheduling, ideally in the energy, petrochemical, utilities, or industrial sector.
- Experience in maintenance operations or reliability-focused environments is highly preferred.
- Proficiency with project scheduling tools such as Primavera P6, Microsoft Project, or equivalent.
- Strong understanding of maintenance workflows, CMMS systems (e.g., SAP PM, Maximo), and work order lifecycle.
- Ability to interpret technical drawings, work packages, and maintenance scopes.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
- Bilingual in English and Spanish strongly preferred.
- Knowledge of OSHA and industrial safety protocols is a plus.
Work Location
On-site work required; standard business hours with occasional extended hours during shutdowns or high-priority maintenance windows.
