Project Manager – Mechanical Piping & Welding

Position Overview

Puma Energy is currently seeking a skilled Project Manager to lead mechanical infrastructure projects at our Bayamón terminal, with a strong focus on piping systems, welding scopes, and industrial construction. The successful candidate will manage end-to-end execution of technical projects, ensuring safety, cost control, quality, and timely delivery in compliance with Puma’s operational standards.


Key Responsibilities

  • Plan, execute, and close-out mechanical projects involving pipe fabrication, structural modifications, and welding operations.
  • Lead cross-functional coordination among engineering, maintenance, procurement, safety, and terminal operations.
  • Oversee contractor performance and ensure all field activities comply with project scope, technical specifications, and safety requirements.
  • Manage project budgets, schedules, resource plans, procurement timelines, and quality assurance deliverables.
  • Review engineering drawings, piping isometrics, and welding specifications to validate constructability and alignment with standards.
  • Supervise or coordinate NDT activities such as visual inspections, pressure tests, radiographic and ultrasonic testing.
  • Maintain up-to-date records, including construction logs, inspection reports, project schedules, and cost tracking.
  • Interface with local vendors, regulators, and site stakeholders to align on timelines and work execution.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • 5+ years of project management experience in mechanical projects, with emphasis on piping systems and welding operations.
  • Deep understanding of ASME codes (e.g., B31.3, B31.4, B31.8) and mechanical construction standards.
  • Proficiency in project management tools such as MS Project, Primavera P6, or equivalent.
  • Experience managing construction contractors, fabricators, and field service providers.
  • Strong cost control, risk management, and scheduling expertise.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English and Spanish.
  • Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations, mechanical safety standards, and permit-to-work systems.
  • PMP certification or formal training in project management methodologies is a plus.
