Job Description
Position Overview
We are seeking for a reliable and safety-focused Industrial Painter to perform surface preparation and painting tasks across our terminal infrastructure, including tanks, pipelines, structural supports, and industrial equipment. This role is essential to maintaining corrosion protection, ensuring regulatory compliance, and preserving the integrity of our facilities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare metal and concrete surfaces for painting, including cleaning, scraping, sanding, and abrasive blasting as required.
  • Apply protective coatings, primers, and industrial paints using brushes, rollers, or spray equipment (airless or conventional).
  • Follow coating specifications, safety data sheets (SDS), and Puma’s standard procedures for surface preparation and painting.
  • Mix and match paint components properly according to product instructions and environmental conditions.
  • Inspect painted surfaces for uniformity, thickness, and defects; perform touch-ups and corrections when needed.
  • Use scaffolding, ladders, or lifts to access elevated surfaces while complying with fall protection requirements.
  • Maintain painting tools and equipment; report any equipment issues or material shortages.
  • Follow all site safety rules including PPE use, hot work permits, confined space procedures, and safe work practices.
  • Support preventive maintenance programs by identifying surfaces in need of repainting or repair.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of painting areas and materials storage.

Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in industrial or commercial painting, preferably in energy, marine, or petrochemical settings.
  • Experience using industrial paints and coatings, including anti-corrosion systems.
  • Familiarity with surface preparation techniques such as power tool cleaning, sandblasting, or chemical cleaning.
  • Ability to read and follow job specifications, material safety data, and painting schedules.
  • Physical ability to lift 50 lbs., work at heights, and operate hand tools and painting equipment.
  • Knowledge of OSHA safety practices, especially in flammable or hazardous environments.
  • Must be dependable, detail-oriented, and able to work independently or as part of a team.
