Key Responsibilities:
Engineering Leadership & Capital Projects
- Lead plant engineering activities supporting corrugator and converting operations
- Plan, scope, and execute capital projects including equipment installations, upgrades, and process improvements
- Manage project timelines, budgets, contractors, and commissioning activities
- Support equipment specifications, layout design, and capacity expansion initiatives
- Partner with corporate engineering, OEMs, and integrators
Facilities & Utilities Management
- Oversee plant infrastructure and utilities, including:
- Boilers and steam systems
- Compressed air systems
- HVAC and climate control
- Dust collection and trim handling
- Electrical distribution and lighting
- Wastewater and stormwater systems
- Ensure facility systems meet safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements
- Develop long-range facility and infrastructure plans
Operational Support & Reliability
- Support production teams by improving equipment capability, uptime, and efficiency
- Collaborate with Maintenance on asset reliability strategies and PM optimization
- Lead root cause analysis for chronic equipment and facility issues
- Standardize engineering practices and technical documentation
Safety, Compliance & Risk Management
- Ensure compliance with OSHA, NFPA, electrical, mechanical, and environmental regulations
- Lead engineering risk assessments, machine safeguarding, and code compliance
- Support audits, inspections, and corrective action plans
- Drive safe design principles into all engineering and facility projects
Leadership & Organizational Effectiveness
- Lead and develop engineering and facilities staff (engineers, technicians, contractors)
- Establish clear priorities, accountability, and standard work
- Promote cross-functional collaboration with Operations, Maintenance, Quality, and Safety
- Drive continuous improvement using Lean, TPM, and structured problem-solving methods
Financial & Resource Management
- Develop and manage engineering and facilities budgets
- Justify capital expenditures through ROI and business case development
- Manage vendor performance, service contracts, and contractor safety
- Optimize energy usage and utility costs
Qualifications:
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial Engineering (required or strongly preferred)
- 5–10 years of engineering experience in a manufacturing environment
- Experience in corrugated packaging, paper, or high-speed converting operations preferred
- Proven experience leading capital projects and facility systems
