Looking for a Welder for the Maintenance Department

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Perform MIG, TIG, stick, and arc welding on steel, stainless steel, and other metals as required.
  • Fabricate machine parts, brackets, guards, supports, platforms, and structural components.
  • Repair worn or damaged production equipment, conveyors, chutes, and material handling systems.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, schematics, and fabrication specifications.
  • Cut, grind, drill, and prepare materials for welding and fabrication projects.
  • Inspect welds for quality, strength, and compliance with company standards.
  • Perform preventive maintenance on welding equipment and fabrication tools.
  • Respond to maintenance work orders and emergency repair requests.
  • Work safely around corrugators, converting equipment, conveyors, and other manufacturing machinery.
  • Maintain accurate records of repairs, fabrication projects, and materials used.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives to increase equipment reliability and plant efficiency.
  • Maintain housekeeping standards in work areas and welding shops.
  • Follow all company safety policies, including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), Hot Work Permits, and PPE requirements.
Qualifications
Education
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Technical or vocational training in welding preferred.
  • Experience
  • 2+ years of welding and fabrication experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment preferred.
  • Experience in corrugated packaging, paper manufacturing, or industrial maintenance is a plus.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Proficiency in MIG, TIG, and stick welding techniques.
  • Ability to read blueprints and fabrication drawings.
  • Knowledge of metal properties, cutting methods, and fabrication techniques.
  • Familiarity with industrial maintenance practices.
  • Ability to use hand tools, power tools, grinders, torches, and measuring instruments.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and within a team environment.
  • Good communication and organizational skills.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, and climb for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds regularly.
  • Ability to work in hot, dusty, noisy, and fast-paced manufacturing environments.
  • Ability to work at heights and in confined spaces when necessary.
  • Ability to wear required PPE, including welding helmet, gloves, safety glasses, hearing protection, and steel-toe footwear.
Working Conditions
  • Manufacturing plant environment with exposure to moving machinery, heat, noise, dust, and vibration.
  • May require overtime, weekends, and emergency call-ins to support production needs.
  • Compliance with all OSHA, environmental, and company safety regulations is required.
