Water Treatment Plant & Boiler Operator

Looking for a Water Treatment Plant & Boiler Operator for the Maintenance Department

Key Responsibilities:
  • Water Treatment Operations
  • Operate, monitor, and maintain water treatment systems including chemical dosing, filtration, softening, reverse osmosis, and wastewater equipment.
  • Conduct routine water quality testing (pH, conductivity, hardness, solids, etc.).
  • Adjust chemical feeds and treatment processes based on test results and operational needs.
  • Complete daily logs, reports, and documentation as required by company and regulatory standards.
  • Inspect pumps, valves, tanks, and lines for leaks, malfunction, or abnormal conditions.
  • Ensure compliance with EPA, OSHA, and local environmental regulations.
  • Boiler Operations
  • Operate and maintain high-pressure steam boilers supporting corrugator and converting equipment.
  • Perform daily boiler water tests; add chemicals as needed to maintain proper water chemistry.
  • Monitor boiler pressures, temperatures, and operational controls.
  • Conduct routine inspections of burners, feedwater systems, condensate returns, steam traps, and safety devices.
  • Perform blowdowns and routine preventive maintenance to ensure efficient operation.
  • Keep accurate logs of boiler performance and maintenance activities.
  • Maintenance & Troubleshooting
    • Identify and troubleshoot operational issues with water systems, boilers, pumps, and associated equipment.
    • Assist with preventive maintenance work and coordinate repairs with maintenance technicians.
    • Respond to equipment alarms, failures, or abnormal operating conditions promptly.
  • Safety & Compliance
    • Follow all OSHA, environmental, and facility safety procedures.
    • Maintain a clean and organized work area.
    • Participate in safety training, emergency response, and internal audits.
    • Use proper PPE at all times.
Qualifications:
  • Education & Experience
    • High school diploma or GED required.
    • Technical certification in boiler operation, water treatment, or industrial maintenance preferred.
    • 1–3 years of experience in water treatment or boiler operation; experience in corrugated or manufacturing environment is a plus.
  • Skills & Competencies
    • Knowledge of industrial water chemistry and boiler operation principles.
    • Ability to read gauges, meters, schematics, and technical manuals.
    • Strong problem-solving and mechanical troubleshooting skills.
    • Basic computer skills (data entry, logging, monitoring systems).
    • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Physical Requirements
    • Ability to stand, walk, climb stairs/ladders, and lift up to 50 lbs.
    • Work in hot, humid, or noisy environments as required.
    • Availability for overtime, weekends, or on-call rotations.
  • Preferred Certifications
    • Licensed Boiler Operator (where applicable).
    • Wastewater Treatment Operator Certification.
    • OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification.
